Fluorescent Caps for Telescope Eyepieces, Focuser
Description
How many caps for Eyepieces, Focuser etc.. have been lost in the dark after an astronomy night? Too many I guess. 3D Printing can help to make new ones but doesn't prevent to loose them again... unless you use fluorescent filaments. That was the aim of this litle project. Make my own caps and make sure they are visible in the dark so that I do not loose any of them anymore. For the fun of it, I order blue and green fluorescent filaments to check the effect. In order to make the pictures easier to be visible in Thingiverse, the caps were illuminated with UV light for some seconds before shooting. In real live, real night condtions, the caps are of course not so bright and do not disturb your eyes dark adaptation. It is even difficult to distinguish between blue and green. The stl files are for my Nagler Eyepieces, printed on Anycubic i3 Mega. - the bottom caps (green) are standard 1.25" or 2". Can be used for any other eyepieces. - the top caps (blue) are made for Nagler. I cannot promise it works on other eyepieces. - there are also two caps for focuser in 1.25" or 2" size. In the end, it is more about the idea of using fluorescent filament for astronomy purpose.
