Cotter Pin Guitar Capo with TPU Pads
Description
I wanted to design a Capo using only the hardware that I could find in my garage. I'm pretty happy with the results but have it marked as a work in progress since I may make a few minor adjustments after using it for everyday playing. So far, I have successfully used it on several guitars and a ukulele with no buzzing. The trick is to squish down the top bumper while clamping the capo. Hardware used: 2 Cotter pins- 1/16" x 3/4" Compression spring from Harbor Freight spring assortment- 7/32" x 11/16" Hex nut- 8.5mm across x 3mm tall x 4mm hole Panhead Screw- 4mm thick x 25mm long Print settings: Capo Clamp Pad- TPU 20% infill Capo Top Bumper-TPU 10% infill Capo Screw Cap-TPU 100% infill (I converted my ender 3 to direct drive) Capo Clamp, Main Body, & Handle- PLA 100% infill. I printed all pieces on a brim since my printer is not enclosed. I don't think you necessarily need to though. I only printed the clamp with supports To assemble the capo, bend back the cotter pins as close to the body as possible, then trim with clippers and knock off any sharp edges. (Don't forget safety glasses!) You will also need to glue the clamp pad to the clamp Put together the screw assembly as pictured and happy practice! Filament used: Hatchbox PLA Overture Black TPU
