Stronger Filament Spool Stand for Samla
Description
Four spools of 1kg filament is a little too heavy for the flimsy bottom of a Ikea Samla box. To prevent the bottom from sagging, I tried to strengthen the original design. The goal is to build a frame to distribute the weight of the filament to the four corners where the feet of the box is located. Walls are created beside each spool to help it align with the rollers. A misaligned spool would stuck in the box and stop filament from loading, especially when the spool is near empty which is relatively light in weight. Some parts are joint using a cheap 3D printing pen with PLA for maximum strength. Sixteen standard 608 bearings are used for the rollers. A dab of hot glue is used to fix the stand to the bottom to prevent it from sliding around. This spool stand can be used with my Upper Tray for Samla Filament Box.
