Print Garden
Description
This is a fun little project I created for my kitchen so I could always have fresh herbs to use while cooking. This can be used for a variety of purposes as well such as growing starters, on a desk so you always have nice flowers, growing small vegetables in your home so you have quick access to fresh produce, you name it! Materials -Lots of PLA -An air-pump (about the same size as the top section) -Plastic (I used sheets of acetate, you can either find it online or in most craft stores) -Silicone Caulking -Paint (Optional) Instructions -Print models and make any changes needed to fit your needs -(Optional) Paint pieces before proceeding to next step! Let dry completely according to instructions or overnight -Cut acetate to size so it covers the basin and ensures water will not leak -Adhere to the print using caulking -Attach the air pump -Fill with water and give it a test run (I suggest leaving it overnight so you can check for any leaks) -Empty basin and refill with clean water, then follow the given instructions for growing your selected plants Development Notes This is the first version I created, and I'm definitely going to revisit this and make changes to the design in order to reduce the amount of PLA I wasted while printing just the support material for the main housing It took 50 hours! The only bright-side is that I was able to finish the rest of my gold filament. I also want to make different versions that use smaller pods, or have cooler, more artistic, designs. I'm also going to add a few holes so inserting the hose for the pump and adding water/food will be easier and won't require having to use a rotary tool to make. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me!
