Orbiter and Mosquito toolhead for Hypercube Evolution
Description
Hello, I have made this compact and relatively leightweight toolhead for my Hypercube Evolution printer. Complete toolhead with all parts included weights only 245g. This is in my opinion good value for direct drive setup. Needed hardware and parts: ======================= * 1x Orbiter Extruder v1 * 1x Mosquito or NF-Crazy hotend with thermostor and heater of your choice * 1x LJ-8-A3-2-Z/BX-5V or P.I.N.D.A probe * 1x Optical endstop * 1x 5015 blower fan (Sunon Maglev recommended) * 1x 4010 fan (Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX) * 10x M3x5x5 heat set insert (SL type recommended) * 5x M3x8 Hex socket screw (DIN 912 or ISO 7380 recommended) * 2x M3x12 Hex socket screw (DIN 912 or ISO 7380 recommended) * 2x M3x20 Hex socket screw (DIN 912 or ISO 7380 recommended) * 2x M2.5x5 Hex socket screw (Should be part of Mosquito hotned package) Assembly instructions: ================== 1. Print both plastic parts and insert 10 heat set inserts into Toolhead body 2. Mount endstop switch into position with 1xM3x8 screw and immediatelly attach its cable. Later will not be possible to plug cable into endstop. Other end of cable should go through hole in Toolhead body (red point in image with endstop) 3. Insert LJ-8-A3-2-Z/BX-5V or P.I.N.D.A probe from top part of body. Take care to not damage endstop cable which should be placed between fan duct and probe. Secure probe with 1x M3x8 screw. 4. Mount Mosquito hotend with 2x M2,5x5 screws to toolhead. Wires should stick from side closer to 5015 fan mount. 5. Mount 4010 fan using 2x M3x12 screws. Cable holder on fan should be facing side with 5015 fan. 6. Mount 5015 fan using M3x20 screws (do not tighten them now). Route cables from fans and hotend on top side of fan duct. and secure them with small cable tie through slot in Toolhead body. If you have longer cables, you can hide small amount between 5015 fan and fan duct. 7. Mount Orbiter extruder assembly using 2x M3x8 screws 8. Mount cooling fan duct using 1x M3x8 screw. Now it is time to tighten 5015 fan screws from point 6 9. Mount head on printer and adjust Z probe position to be 1mm higher than nozzle. 10. Set Z probe offsets and Orbiter extruder steps and current in your firmware and on stepper drivers. Orbiter: Stepps: 655 stepps / mm @ 16 micro-stepping (for the 7.5:1 gearing ratio) Acceleration: 600 mm/s^2 Maximum instantaneous speed change (jerk): 300 mm/min(RRF), 5 (Marlin) Maximum speed: 3600 mm/min Pressure advance: 0.03s Retraction: 1.2mm (for the volcano V6 hotend) Retraction speed: 60mm/s Motor current: 0.5A Peak or 0.35A RMS(LDO-36STH17-1004AHG & LDO-36STH20-0504AHG) 0.9A Peak or 0.63 RMS(Wantai 36BYGH218) Please pay attention which current type your firmware is configuring and set accordingly Nozzle offset: 18mm behind nozzle (in +Y direction of printer) 7mm right from nozzle (in +X direction of printer)
