Wright Cyclone R-1820-97 Radial Engine
Description
This is Mk1 of the Wright Cyclone R-1820-97 radial engine used on the B-17G and other WWII era aircraft. Like several of my other models this was designed for use in a 1:9th scale RC build that I have been working on for some time. I have included several variations of the cylinders that can be used for various setups. In my case I'm using the "Cyliner_Front_Open_Top" and the "Cylinder_Rear_v3" files along with the cowl mount files. This allows the motor and the forward cowl ring to be glued to each other and to the cowl and then allows for easy positioning of the cowl on the firewall by adjusting the four dowel posts and allows for easy removal of the cowl after installation. The other versions can be mixed/matched based on how much of your radial will be visible. There are also two bellhousing versions included. Depending on the size/shape of your motor and the cooling requirements there are versions with larger and smaller openings. The smaller opening has a more scale appearance and exposes less of the electric motor while the larger opening allows for more airflow and cooling. You can find the build log for this model at: https://forum.flitetest.com/index.php?threads/1-9-scale-b-17g-sweet-pea.55875/ More 3D printable files for the B-17, including a detailed cockpit, are already available in my things. If you build one please share! I love to see my stuff in the wild!
