Rocketdyne F-1 Lampshade

Rocketdyne F-1 Lampshade

Description

I needed a desk lamp, and wanted one that would shine inspiration down on me while I worked. Now you too can bask in the fiery warm glow of one of mankind's triumphs, one of the five rocket engines that lifted the incredible Saturn V on it's journey to the moon. This was a modelled from boelle's Rocketdyne F-1 that was in turn remixed from farscape1's Saturn V model. Assembly notes- ============== ⚫ There are 33 parts total to be printed, including a additional diffuser holder I designed. Assembly will need a lot of CA glue and a little patience. The STEP file has been included, along with a image showing the assembled unit from different angles. ⚫ Support is minimal, as most pieces have been split into two to reduce support requirements. Some parts need reorientation for proper printing. ⚫ Most parts can be printed with fairly thin walls and infill, except "TC - Top" which is the main structural member. 4 - 6 parameters recommended, and a material with strong layer adhesion. ⚫ The upper portion of "TC - Top" is sized 23mm to fit snugly into a 3/4" CPVC pipe. This allows a number of mounting solutions, I used a stove to heat up the a 1ft section of pipe and bent it into a hook, so that it can hook onto my study table's shelves. ⚫ For the bulb socket, I bought a hanging bulb socket, unscrewed the outer shells and used the brass socket and connectors. More robust than 3D printing a socket, but be sure to buy a hanging bulb socket and measure the dimensions first to ensure it fits well. A warm white LED bulb is recommended for optimum looks, and to avoid melting the plastic. If you make one, please do share an image of it, I'd love to see your work.
