Hyper X Cloud ll RGB Catears

Hyper X Cloud ll RGB Catears

Description

I wanted a catear headset, but don't wanted to spend money on a new headset. So the Catears of teamtestbot (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1085104) in addition with the Clips from wnelson14 (linked on the left) were perfect. In addition to that with some WS2812b LEDs and a ESP8266. The Software i used is WLED. So i can fully control them via wifi. Problem tho': No fitting clips or a diffuser inlay, so i just made my own. I made a negative of the inner from the ear and made it thin, in addition to that i refitted the clips to Fit on my hyperX Cloud ll. You can also slide them for a good fit without any damage to the headset (after you clipped them on of course). LED Stripes i used: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01CDTEJR0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=B01CDTEJR0&linkCode=as2&tag=tommyg-21&linkId=a3ead5cbc43e923fd01352c8cbf76fd7 ESP i used: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01CDTEJR0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=B01CDTEJR0&linkCode=as2&tag=tommyg-21&linkId=a3ead5cbc43e923fd01352c8cbf76fd7 (better alternative that costs a bit more tho': https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01CDTEJR0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=B01CDTEJR0&linkCode=as2&tag=tommyg-21&linkId=a3ead5cbc43e923fd01352c8cbf76fd7 ) The wires i'd advice to get (i just got some from my 5 core wire, but if you order it 3core wire makes more sense ofc.): https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01CDTEJR0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=B01CDTEJR0&linkCode=as2&tag=tommyg-21&linkId=a3ead5cbc43e923fd01352c8cbf76fd7 -------------------------------------------- Instructions: 1. Print out the ears and the clips in black or any color you'd favor. 2. Print the inlay with transparent filament. (i think white could work too but i'm not sure...) 3. Cut 2 stripes with 5 LEDs each from the LED-Stripe-Roll, and piece of wire in a fitting length for "inbetween the Ears" (mine was arround 25cm if i remember correctly) 4. Cut another wire at arround 2 Meters (so you have enough space between headset and controller and not having it to close to your head) 5. Solder the Stripes like in the picture i've added. (the small wire between the Stripes and on one end the longer wire) 6. Solder the other end of the 2m wire to the ESP (instructions to that on the WLED github website, depending on your controller). 7. Flash the WLED Software according to the instructions on the ESP and test it. 8. Glue them into the ears, the stripes themselves won't stick good enough so use hotglue or superglue. (after that do another test, just to be sure the soldering job was okay) 9. Glue the Inlay into the catears and the clips under them. (Testfit them before that, i accidentally broke the "inner fluff" of and had to reglue it with the inlay) 10. Clip them onto your headset and rearrange them to fit. Eventually fix the cable with a cabletie at the headset to avoid annoying scratching sounds when the wire touches the headset while you wear it. Have fun and feel free to ask anything in the comments :)
