Motorised Crane Platform
Description
PLATFORM FOR CRANE HO or OO This little platform was built for the Wills / Peco yard crane. However, it could be used for any crane that fits on the 25mm turntable. I've added a printable crane - see notes below. It is powered by a geared motor mounted below (see photo). The mountings for the motor are built into the plastic base and you just need 2 tiny screws (1.6mm I think). The turntable requires two M3 washers on the motor shaft to separate it from the base and act as a bearing. FILES: - Crane Base-3 > The upper surface of the platform is deliberately uneven and will be coated with a dark grey or black scenic scatter, then matt varnished. The sides are intended to look like regular building stone with a slate infill. - Crane plinth wood 2-2 > As above but with an upper surface to simulate wooden planks. - turntable > The circular base that rotates with the motor. The crane is fixed to this part. - YardCrane > This is a printable yard crane. There are alternatives among my designs. The motor has a 3mm shaft that pushes into the lower part if the 25mm turntable. The spigot on the base of the crane fits into a 2.5mm hole in the upper side of the turntable. If you want any info about the motor or it's mounting, please leave a comment. I have built this for my own model railway layout. It prints okay without any brim or supports. Since printing, I have modified the underside slightly. Any difficulties, please comment (politely) and I will modify. UPDATE: I have now produced a 'wooden' crane platform and a yard crane to match the platform on my station design. It's posted separately on Thingiverse. I hope this may be useful to someone. Any issues, please leave a polite comment and I will attempt to rectify.
