12 Well Magnetic Separation Rack for 1.5 ml Tubes
Description
This is a magnetic separation rack for 12 1.5ml tubes. It is used to isolate DNA using magnetic beads. Unlike other separations racks, this allows the tubes to be slightly tilted to get them closer to the magnet, and leaves plenty of space for opening the lids and maneuvering a pipette. Additional materials needed: 6 round rare-earth magnets 12.7mm in diameter and 5 mm in height. This rack was tested to work with these magnets from Adafruit: https://www.adafruit.com/product/9 This plate was tested against a commercial plate by adding a known amount of DNA, separating the DNA and cleaning with ethanol, then re-hydrating and quantifying the DNA again. The plate was found to be effective for cleaning samples, size selection and re-concentrating samples.
