CR-6 SE LED Cover Assy.

CR-6 SE LED Cover Assy.

Description

I always thought that the LED on our CR-6 SE belonged in the front, centered, and not so bright. I noticed there is a lot of room inside the cover, below the hotend fan...a perfect place for recessed lighting! I didn't want to hack my stock cover, so I reversed engineered the Thingiverse 4669438 cover. ...I used 3 LED segments, but it was too bright...I cut out one segment and now it's perfect..good light with no glare. The main advantages of this mod are 1) the LED's are recessed and front-mounted...no direct light to my eyes, 2) the view of the nozzle area is still 100% unobstructed, and 3) using 2 LED's instead of 3 produces a comfortable no-glare view ...since 90% of my attention is to the nozzle area, this is my favorite CR-6 SE mod. I like it so much that I leave my LED on all the time. (UPDATE 3/18/21) ...since I have another hotend kit ordered, this freed up my original metal cover for modification to mount the LED's into. I've uploaded a ridiculously simple LED mount that I used...liking this a lot. (no need for the special PTFE support using original metal cover, either.)..still, the printed cover can be color matched to your other mods... NOTE: if you use a 40x10 adapter fan mod, make sure there is clearance between the bottom of the fan and the cover/adaptor/bracket, otherwise the ABL sensor may be not be able to move freely...not good. NOTE 2: of course, this printed cover has thicker walls than the metal cover. If you use my PTFE tube support bracket, you'll need to replace it with the included "thin" file. It will fit correctly. Also, this bracket adds strength and support to the cover mounting tabs.
