Sharpie Holder For Ender 3
Description
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. CURRENT UPLOADED MODEL WORKS WITH MINOR MODIFICATION -The width of the bracket is too small so you need to shave off the right hand (short wall) side to make it fit. -Insert a piece of note card to create enough tension to keep bracket in place. Overview I was interested in a plotter mod that didn't need to be bolted or permantanly mounted to work. My design allows for a quick addition by just slipping on the extruder fan cover without any screws or bolts. As well the pen grip is tightened by a binder clip that I'd imagine everyone with a printer has. The hole fits a Sharpie. Process I extruded a text in Fusion 360 at .2mm height, or one printed layer, loaded the .stl in Cura and created a custom profile with all heated settings off, and all fans off. Enabled "Z Hop" at 2mm. Set print to 1 Wall and 0 Layers. I'm not sure how to offset the X and Y axises to move the nozzle location to the marker's location. Work in Progress. My printer has a BLTouch so I just eyeballed the sharpie height between the extruder and the full length of my BLTouch. as the print started with the Skirt I lowered the Z Offset until the pen touched the bed. There is a little tail that gets written at the end of the print that for some reason isn't fixed by the "Z hop" feature. Any Ideas? I have attached the .curaprofile that worked for me, feel free to upload it into Cura and try it out. Goal I plan on making my printer, and hopefully yours, multi-functional with very little permanent or time consuming modifications. I plan on making an assortment of brackets, or a bracket with interchangeable grips to accommodate various tools. My vinyl cutter is ordered and will arrive on 2/26/21 and will design a bracket for that to hold it in the following days. Any input is appreciated, and I look forward to all the REMIXES! Happy Printing!
