bosch dishwasher heat pump impeller

Description

A trial to make a replacement part that would be quite close to the original. This is just the first draft. I tried to use OpenSCAD being my only CAD that I know a bit and it turned out to be a difficult task. I ended up modeling the cross-sections of the curved surfaces as 2D paths in InkScape and then importing and extruding them in OpenSCAD. Modelling in InkScape allowed for manual adjustments of the curves by visual comparison to the photos of the original object. The model consists of three main objects - the upper part (I called it the lid), then the impeller blades, and the base at the bottom. Since I needed to constrain the blades by the upper lid and the bottom base, I had to define complement 2D paths to the lid and base to make correct differencing 3D objects. In the bottom base there is an axle hole with a thread. For that I re-used the nuts_and_bolts_v1.9.6.scad library, where I just added a nut module for making a round nut (not a hexagonal one). Note: If you want to change the shape or dimensions of the curved surfaces, just edit the svg template files (in Inkscape), that contain both the main path and the adjacent diff path. Then delete the other path and save as with the desired name for importing with the OpenSCAD script. I hope you will find this design useful.
