zx82net Ray-gun Speaker System
Description
(edit 7/31/2021: Fusion archive added) **Ray-gun Speaker System** This is 3D printed speaker system, intended for desktop use or for small to medium sized living rooms. Are they space-age, are they post-modern, or are they just weird looking, who knows? They sound great! **Here's a sound demo** running with my Tower of Bass subwoofer, listen with headphones: https://youtu.be/HBoxPJCgFD8 ***If you like it, please hit like!*** =========== These are intended for use as satellite speakers, with response down to 145Hz, they need a subwoofer to give full range performance. I've provided frequency response plots and recomented EQ setting in the images above. I designed these to match my **Tower of Bass subwoofer** (Remix of a Hexibase design), but they will work with any subwoofer which can play up to ~160Hz. I modeled the enclosure in WinISD, it's a ~400ml sealed conical enclosure, to minimize standing waves. **The TEBM35C10-4 drivers are exceptional and an absolute steal at $8**. They are also available in the UK and Europe for similar prices. Don't take my word on the quality of the driver's, take an expert's opinion, **"This driver has an incredible bandwidth for its size"**: https://www.erinsaudiocorner.com/driveunits/tectonic-elements-tebm35c10-4-miniature-bmr-driver/ At the time of writing, they are $7.22 from Parts Express: https://www.parts-express.com/Tectonic-TEBM35C10-4-BMR-2-Full-Range-Speaker-4-Ohm-297-216 **My subwoofer design is here:** https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4526833 **The amplifier used in the demo is here:** https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4761687 A guide for selecting the 2.1ch amps in Step 7 of my instructable: https://www.instructables.com/P-CUBE-Speaker-System/ **Specifications for the satellite speaker:** 145Hz-20kHz Wide Dispersion Design, 165Hz crossover recommended Tectonic BMR 35mm Driver TEBM35C10-4 4 ohm impedance 20W Peak Power **Components per speaker:** * 1x TEBM35C10 Driver https://www.parts-express.com/Tectonic-TEBM35C10-4-BMR-2-Full-Range-Speaker-4-Ohm-297-216 * ~300g printer filament of your choice * 4x M2x 6-12mm Screws * Speaker cable that will squeeze through a 5x7mm hole * Bluetack or equivelant * Approx 400ml of acoustic stuffing, I recommend polyfil rather than foam.
