Thordsen Filament Dryer Mount for Ender 3 V2
Description
I needed a mount for my new Thordsen Remote Filament Dryer that was as close to the extruder as possible but in an ideal location to allow the cleanest pathway and minimize the distance filament needed to travel. This ended up being the best solution for my Bowden Setup. Uses 4pcs M3 x 10mm Socket Head Cap Screws and approx 6-12" of PTFE tubing. The heater sits tight to the mount in this configuration for easy printing and best filament alignment. There is a possibility of deformation or damage if you are running the heater past the melting point of the mount material, but I haven't tested it and I don't print materials that hot (yet). You might need a little touchup of clearance/fit depending on how much your first few layers like to settle and squat or depending on how your printer tolerances work with this. You want a snug fit at the bottom of the mount for stability, but there is not a lot of weight or torsional forces to deal with. Please post if you print and get it working...I'd love it see your take on it. I know there is debate over wether this works or not, and I don't believe the test parameters I have seen are appropriate or even reasonable. I took a chance knowing Thordsen product quality. That said, this is my experience so far. I store my filament as best I can in canisters with desiccant, but I print out in the open in my garage living near the beach. There is no helping the moisture. My machine runs nearly 24 hours and the filament stays on the machine in the open until it is gone. This has removed all my gaps, bubbles, snapping/popping, and giving me much cleaner parts. Time will tell, but so far I am happy with my purchase as it has immediately improved my results in my specific conditions. Thank you Thordsen.
