Filament Storage

Filament Storage

Description

I designed this for my wife to store her floss for cross stitching in. It's designed to have a bearing between each layer with the top storage going... well, on top. We currently have 7 spools stacked up and it's pretty stable. No glue or fasteners have been used between the spools. I use some spare screws to fasten the drawers to the spools. I use exclusively Hatchbox spools, but you can use the OnShape.com link to customize the dimensions to your needs. The bearing is Print in Place, but takes some work to break it loose due to the tight tolerances. I use a paint scraper to separate the two halves initially in the center and then a small flat tip screw driver to finish the process. There are 2 leverage holes built in to use screwdrivers or other prying tools to assist in getting it to turn. A bit of a pain, but it turns so smooth once it's loosened.
