Parametric culture slant rack
Description
Customizable, fully printed rack for holding culture tubes at an angle while the medium cools. Parts are easy to print, with no supports needed. The included STLs produce a 4x2 rack holding 25 mm tubes at 20° from horizontal, but all of these parameters and more can be adjusted with the Thingiverse Customizer app (when it's not broken) or by downloading and editing the OpenSCAD file. The finished rack is not adjustable, but you can swap out the base for a different angle and reuse the rest. For higher angles you might need to glue the base to something heavy for stability. You can also flip the rack on its back for vertical storage once your slants are cool. Instructions: Print one "plate" and two each of "grid", "base", and "rail". I printed the base on its side, but you could probably print it upright as well. Snap the parts together as depicted in the photos. No fasteners or adhesives are needed. I printed the prototype in Prusament PLA (Azure Blue) and loaded it with four tubes of hot water straight from the kettle. After 30 minutes the water had cooled substantially and little to no warping of the PLA was observed. However, if you have issues or are concerned about heat, you could print with a more temperature-resistant plastic such as PETG.
