Coheed and Cambria Keywork Extruder Knob for Ender 3

Coheed and Cambria Keywork Extruder Knob for Ender 3

Description

This is an extruder knob, compatible with the Ender 3 and Ender 3 v2. If you are one among the fence and you're looking to express your love for one of the greatest bands of all time, this knob is for you! I printed this in three pieces in order to reduce support material and improve the finished faces. I included a glue-up guide that should fit well into one of the wells on the underside. I also placed my maker's mark in one of these wells and I used that to align the glue up to ensure that the knurls lined up nicely. I printed at 0.2 mm layer heights and programed a pause in Cura at layer 33 (I'm running you down!) to change the filament, but check with your settings to make sure your colour change isn't too early or too late. I did my best to compensate for the elephant's foot in the drawing but some filing or sanding may be necessary to ensure that everything fits together nicely. Be sure to do a dry fit (assembly without glue) before your final assembly to make sure that everything lines up the way you want it to. To assemble, I put a *SMALL* amount of Vaseline on the glue-guide - not to help the pieces slide but to prevent it from getting glued in. I snapped the glue guide into the top half, applied my super glue and slid the bottom half on and made sure everything lined up while the glue set-up. As soon as I was sure it wouldn't come apart I placed a large hex key in the hole on the guide and pulled it out sharply, not allowing it enough time to get glued or suctioned in. The hole on the bottom worked out to be a fairly tight fit on the extruder and only has a little bit of play when turning while still remaining easy to take on and off. However, depending on your printer and slicer, your mileage may vary. If you decide to make this, please post a make. I'm excited to see what colour combinations you all come up with!
