Door Stopper Replacments (Customizable)

Door Stopper Replacments (Customizable)

Description

This is a five minute design to replace the old door stoppers used for stair gates and on doors all over the place. As you can see on the provided picture, the original version was in some ugly dark grey. The color did not change over the about 45 years, those bumpers where installed, but they lost their flex. The plasticizers inside evaporated over the four decades making a bump almost as hard as hitting the wall itself. Not do mention the wobble sound the doors made on hard impact. Since the bumper mostly lost its flex it started to crack as you can see on the images. Since I like the simplistic 70th design, I myself designed a similar replacement part using the given measurements, but as always the FreeCAD source is included, so you can adapt the design for your needs.. Make sure you use 0.19 or up to be able to modify it. What is nice about this simple design is, that you can mount it to walls, the floor or even the door itself. I printed in white Noyes TPU with 7% infill, but used 3 Walls at 0.2 nozzle size. The white version looks so nice on the white wall, compared to the old grey brittle thing. The material is still very stiff, but a levered door hitting it, is able to deform it nicely without making a bumping noise. If you want more flex just use less walls and more infill. Just remember the infill orientation is important here. Some 3d infill gives stiffness from all direction, while a normal triangle or square will have more resistance when hitting the head from the top, like the stair gate version in the photos. Happy Printing
