GA Wet Compass for Flight Simulation
Description
This compass is modelled after real one, uses 28BYJ-48 stepper, and has optional self-calibration. You'll need: * 3x m3 20mm screws * 2x m3 8mm screws (for 28BYJ-48) * 5x m3 inset nuts * 1x 28BYJ-48 stepper * (for auto calibration) 1x QRD1114 optical sensor Compass card assembly: 1. print compass card and glue it on the float 2. (for auto calibration) draw a reflective thin white radial line on the compass bottom (acrylic paint will do) Shell Assembly: 1. Mount 3x inset nuts into holes in from and back caps 2. Mount 2x inset nuts into stand (to motor holder holes) 3. Fix stepper onto stand using 2x m3 screws 4. (for auto calibration) Glue QRD1114 sensor to its bracket (make sure you properly oriented legs down) 5. (for auto calibration) Solder sensor wires and pass them through holes in front cap, and the stand 6. Put the float into the back cap, fix back cap on the stand, and put the float on the motor shaft 7. Insert front cap (make sure mounting holes aligned) 8. Fix caps on the stand using 3x m3 screws 9. Lubber line can be made from a wire, and attached to a front cap from inside. 10. Optional 1mm acrylic glass lens can be installed as well (though I don't have it) Sample Arduino code (works with Sim Innovation AirManager): https://github.com/avignatenko/ComancheArduino/blob/master/Compass/Compass.ino Video: https://youtu.be/uHoWJDIPkXw
