Route Werks handlebar bag bar stub
Description
I needed to mount more things to my Route Werks handlebar bag, so I whipped up this simple bar stub that bolts onto the threaded mount on the bag. It's a little narrower than the one that is available with the bag, so there's a bit more room by the brake hoods. And with the accessory mounted lower, it can be even farther inboard for even more hand room. It is pictured with bars measuring 41cm between brake clamp centers. I designed two versions- one with a little lip on the end so whatever is mounted doesn't slide off and one without. I'm pretty sure there's really no need for the lip since the accessory would start to tilt up or down before it starts slipping sideways. Speaking of which, the plastic is pretty slippery, so for a stretched rubber clamp like the one pictured (vs a bolt on clamp), you will probably want to add some sort of grip tape. Carpet tape if you don't plan on removing the mount, or traction tape or even gaffer tape otherwise. The only other part needed is a 10-12mm M5 bolt to attach the part to the bag. File down the sharp edges of the part before bolting it on to prevent injury.
