Economomic Refill Spool (Print with only 90g Filament)
Description
Short summary: - Spool for 850g filament refills - The spool itself requires only very little filament (about 90g) and can be printed within a few hours. - Choose the correct version for you by reading the Version-information below - MySpool dimensions: ...Outer diameter: 102mm / Inner diameter: 53mm / Filament pack width: 54mm - MySlimSpool dimensions: ...Same but filament pack width reduced to 46mm (equals masterspool width) If myslimspool is too thight and myspool too loose I recomend combining the two to get a final width of 50mm! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wantet to try refill filaments like these: https://www.3djake.at/fiberlogy/refill-easy-pet-g-white because: 1. They are way cheaper 2. I don't want to waste a 200g spool with every kg of filament I buy on single use spools There are many designes for such spools on thingyverse, but the original MasterSpool is far to massive (almost 500g Filament!!!) and other designs are either massive as well or to fragile/insecure. The basic idea was to print a light middle part and add very stiff cardboard or wooden plates on the sides (as can be seen in the pictures). I just used scissors and a knife to cut the cardboard into shape and I really like the final results so I decided to share it with you guys. I also provided files which can be printed as one part (with supports) for both versions! Version 1 (white spool in my pictures): With this very first attempt I decided to glue the two halfes together so the pattern is on the outside of the Spool. I had to add an additional distance sleeve (won't be required on every printer tho) Print the following: 2x my(slim)spool_v1_1.obj 1x my(slim)spool_v1_dist.obj (optional) or 1x my(slim)spool_v1_onepiece.obj Version 2 (blue spool in my pictures): Next I tried to connect everything with screws instead of glue and integrated the distance sleve into one of the two halfes. I strongly recomend this version. It works great and has a cleaner look. Print the following: 1x my(slim)spool_v2_1.obj 1x my(slim)spool_v2_2.obj or 1x my(slim)spool_v2_onepiece.obj Cardboard dimensions: Outer diameter: 200mm Inner diameter: 98-100mm Make sure to either choose a smaller inner diameter (about 85mm) or leave some excess material so the screws can hold the cardboard properly I hope my designes work as well for you as they do for me and I'll gladly answer to feedback and recomendations in the comments!
