LW PLA Auto Gyro Rotor Blades 60 mm Chord
Description
Universal AG rotor blade to be printed from LW PLA and re-enforced with Glass Reinforced Plastic (fibreglass) (kite) spars. These blades are NOT for use with model helicopters. This would be dangerous and could be lethal, DO NOT 'POWER' THESE BLADES. Test them under the safest possible circumstances to avoid injury or damage if a blades fails. Use them AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! The blades are based on a tip and root section which will give a blade of 450 mm long and I have included additional central pieces which are 50, 100 and 200 mm long and so in theory you can make the blades as long as you want but remember, the longer they are the more force that will be exerted! Print them with 3 of each type of section together overlapping at the trailing edges by 2 - 3 mm and print layer by layer, move the sections around in the slicer until you get a vase (continuous) print with no stringing. Towards the top change to 2 outer layer, 4 top layers and 5% infill to strengthen the root area and the tip. More details can be found on the RC Groups thread. A 'standard' 4 mm diameter kite spar was used and there is a 3 mm 'tunnel' in the tip section to add plumber solder as weight. USE CAUTION, I would not add any more than 3 Grams of tip weight for safety. Use plenty of Cyano glue to ensure a really secure bond! If you use a flat plate GRP head use the angled button as that will give 15 degrees of Delta 3, if you use a head with a built in hinge you can use the rounded buttons to give better clearance.
