QB-5LC Quick Disconnect Plate
Description
Had this perfectly good $100'ish tripod sitting around collecting dust because I lost track of the QR plate. Kept thinking it would turn up, but it hasn't yet. The replacement QR plates are a bit overpriced (IMO), so I thought I'd just print something instead. I found a few variations on a printable QB-5LC plate, but none of them fit quite right. They also wouldn't accept and/or retain a common d-ring screw (links to some of those below). Others locked a screw or bolt to the plate, making necessary to rotate the entire plate, which makes it harder to tighten to a camera if anything grippy (silicone/rubber) is affixed to the top, and makes it tough to get the camera aligned with the tripod _and_ tight at the same time. So, I'm adding another variation that fits a little better, has the right thickness on the top plate, and has a center hole that is big enough to force-thread through (to the unthreaded part) and retain a d-ring screw. Except for the lack of a spring-loaded alignment pin, it's pretty much the same as the one that is being sold for around $20, which is 10+ times as much as the d-ring screw costs. Fits multiple models of Velbon tripods. (CX-530, CX-540, CX-580, CX-640, CX-680, S-4000, S-5000, T7500, V9500, Videomate 500, Videomate 600, QRA-5N) Meant to be used with a d-ring screw like one of these (around $2 each depending on how many you buy, and some also include 3/8" adapters): * https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00OOLKD3U * https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08NPYJYHQ * https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B009FILPMU * https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00KI3J7G2 Note: This is sortof a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1014864 but I couldn't get the Thingiverse site to link it as such. Yet another broken part of the Thingiverse web site I guess.
