Anycubic i3 Mega S | 608 Bearing Top Horizontal Spool Holder

Description

IMPROVED V2 AVAILABLE HERE: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5141538 This design was inspired by a model by jdharris (here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2776254), however I didnt have a spare HDD spindle. I did have 608 bearing so made this instead. It spins very freely and smoothly; FAR better than a regular vertical spool holder (like the stock mega S holder). The bearings I bought from aliexpress are not the best, so they have very slight inner-race play, but it doesnt affect the spin at all. They're also very cheap (10pcs for 2EUR) so its not a problem to replace if needed. I have also included the STEP files for individual parts, and PTC Creo Parametric project files in here too, so feel free to edit :) The extruder mount you can see in the photos is another remix of mine (found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4847747). The combination of both of these parts provides a shorter and more natural filament path to the hotend, as well as offloading some weight from one of the Z-carriages :) ASSEMBLY: The model comes in 3 parts: top mounted bearing holder, and two axle parts. The two axle parts are separated to make printing easier. Once printed, just glue them together with superglue, make sure to sand the glue surface before for better adhesion. BOM TO PURCHASE: 608 bearings - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000172615867.html PRINT SETTINGS: PLA 1.75mm filament 0.4mm nozzle 0.2mm layer height 15% infill 3 walls + alternating 3 top/bot layers Print time: approx 4.5hrs
