QIDI X-MAX PI cam case & bed mount
Description
Its difficult to find a mount for a bed raspberry pi camera to work correctly inside the enclosure of a QIDI X-MAX printer, so I made one. I tried to make it as simple as possible. This will certainly work with other printers, but I made the measurements specifically for the QIDI X-MAX to allow a bed cam inside the enclosure. First thing you must know is you will need a strip of either aluminium (aluminum for the US), plastic, wood or carbon fiber. This strip will bolt over the levelling screws (underneath the wingnut tighteners) The holes of the strip need to be approx 284mm apart.....with a hole in the centre for the mount (see pics) This is the best way to mount the cam, there is plenty of room underneath for the bed to lower to the sensors switches. You will need a small nut and bolt, with a washer for fastening the mount to the strip. The mount will slide forward and back so you can get the correct distancing from both the extruder and the casing (see pics) You will also need a 1/2in or so self tapping screw to fasten the case hinge to the mount. Place the ribbon as in the pics, make it a little longer than needed to keep the bend in the ribbon moving the correct way. The cam case is pretty standard and can be found in more than one location online. I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR MAKING THE ACTUAL CAMERA CASE (I made one but this is a better version) , BUT HAVING SEARCHED i CANNOT FIND THE MAKER....PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR THIS. IF YOU ARE THE DESIGNER OF THE CASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEREUPON I WILL MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS NOTED I measured the mount with calipers, if fastened as the pics, both the extruder and the casing will have room for the bed to move freely and the mount to stay in place. I used PLA+ and so far heat has not been an issue, but you could also decide to use PETG.
