Enclosure Mounted Spool Holder
Description
Enclosure Mounted Spool Holder - for Direct Drive Setups Designed to hold small (250g), medium (1kg), and large (2.2kg) filament roles safely suspended from upper enclosure rails. This takes the stress of the printer frame. The Creality Enclosure has 16mm diameter tubes that make the frame so it has been designed to accommodate that size tubing. The DirectDrive Filament Guide will slide onto the 20x20 extrusion which is standard on the Ender3. The guide contains freely rotating "captured" ball that has a clearance of 0.60mm from its frame. A small section of PTFE tube is inserted into the ball to guide the filament down to a direct-drive extruder. Required Hardware: * M3x20 Hex Head Screws (Qty: 4) - These are used to connect the ArmClamps to the Spool Arms. * M4x12 Hex Head Screws (Qty: 2) - These are used to secure the 16mm diameter pipe to the Spool Arms. * 1/2in x 18.5in CPVC pipe "Water Supply Pipe" * 1.75mm PTFE tube, approximately 30mm. Max diameter of tube is 4mm. You will need to print the following: * SpoolArm (Qty: 2) - Print Orientation: curved section up * ArmClamp (Qty: 2) - Print Orientation: curved section up * M4_HexCapKnob (Qty: 2) - Print Orientation: flat face down * FilamentGuide (Qty: 1) - Print Orientation: top face down You will need a length of 470mm (18.5in) of 1/2" CPV pipe; please note, the 1/2" identifies the inner-diameter dimensions. Any pipe with an outer-diameter of 16mm (approximately 0.625in) should work. CPVC pipe is made of a high-temperature material capable of withstanding temperatures around 80-degrees (C). Keep all other printing parameters the same as above. Printing Parameters for M4_HexCapKnob and FilamentGide: Filament type: PETG Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm Layer Height: 0.16mm Walls: 4 Top/Bottom Layers: 5/5 Infill: 40% Infill Pattern: Gyroid You must use a Layer Height of 0.16 or smaller for these parts to print correctly. You can use whatever Infill Pattern as you would like. No supports are needed. I would not recommend printing in PLA since the ambient temperature in an enclosure can sometimes reach above 40 degrees (C). Also, PLA has a tendency to crack/fracture more easily than PETG which means the SpoolArms may split when screwing in the hex head screws. I have not tested this with a monster 5kg filament roll.
