Asian Themed Lantern

Asian Themed Lantern

Description

After many hours playing minecraft and noticing the new lanterns they added in-game, I decided I wanted something similar in real life. After searching Thingiverse I noticed there was nothing at all that was even close to what I wanted, so I decided to make my own (this is my first upload to Thingiverse). Rather than attempting to reinvent the wheel, a large majority of this project are remixes of other original projects, or influenced by an original and are scraped together to form one final item. For some reason, Thingiverse's "remix source file" feature does not work to give credit to the original files. Chain: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28405/files Roof of box: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:65837/files Decorative panels of box: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1534342 Frame of box: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2809349/files Now that that is out the way, I printed this using Hatchbox PLA for the wooden parts, and used a clear filament printed very thinly for the opaque panes. The only clear filament I had was glow in the dark pla, so now my light inevitably does just that (glows in the dark) which is kind of cool. All the panes slide into the frame and I used E6000 (or you can use superglue) to attach the roof to the top of the box. The single disconnected chain is used to attach the lantern to rest of the chain link. The bottom part is used to hold an electric, flickering tealight. Although I don't feel done with this box, I am not marking it a work in progress unless I make major updates to it.
