Ryobi 18V One+ Whippersnipper cap
Description
This design replaces the cap on the Ryobi one+ 18V whippersnipper. Mine is about 5 years old now and the cap has worn through. I noticed this is a problem other people have had and potentially solved (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1545803) but I only have PLA printing available so started from scratch. The tabs require significant flex to attach and remove the cap. Standard PLA prints will snap instead of bending. This design prints the cap flat and the tabs at 90 degrees to allow the layers to stretch from one end to the other, maximising flex. The flexible strap holds in the cap in place firmly once the tabs clip in. If the tabs are damaged the two piece design also allows a new strap/tabs piece to be printed about an hour with minimal waste. Improvements could be made to flatten the top of the cap and the gaps that allow the strap to go thgouh to reduce the likelihood of damage during use and improve the "circles" I generated with Tinkercad. Although in both cases during testing previous prototypes I found the rough edges wore off quickly during use.
