DVogt Photoredox Tube Holder
Description
Note: Some photos may show previous versions. Description: This is a test tube holder for screening photoredox reactions. This is my original design which was first printed the second year of my PhD (2016) in the Jui Lab and Emory University. A lot of people have asked for this so here it is. You can cite this website in Supporting Information. Test Tubes: VWR part #53283-804 (16 mL, 16 x 125mm) Print Settings: I typically print out of PETG with no support with a 0.8 mm nozzle and 0.2 mm layer height (for speed). The ports for the tubes are slightly extended passed semi-cylindrical so the tubes can’t slip out laterally. For this to work, the print needs to fit the tube fairly snug. Our tubes fit perfectly when the STL is uniformly scaled to 106% in the slicer program but this will change based on the tubes and the printer. The STL as-is has 16mm diameter ports which can be scaled accordingly. Keep in mind that the widest part of a reaction tube is typically the rounded part at the bottom, I’d recommend scaling 0.5 to 1 mm larger than that diameter.
