inverted pen lock mechanism

inverted pen lock mechanism

Description

I wanted to understand the locking mechanism of a retractable pen for quite a while and what's better than modelling and printing one. The lock consists of 3 parts: two concentric cams and a follower. In an ordinary retractable pen one cam is hidden inside the barrel, pointing inwards. To make it visible it's modelled pointing outwards. The other cam is a non rotating part with a crown that is connected to the push button. Both cams together dictate the movement of the follower, the part that rotates and presses against the cartridge. Printed in PETG with 0,3 mm nozzle and 0,15 mm layer height.
