CR-30 Direct Drive

CR-30 Direct Drive

Description

This started with a very nice direct drive mount from codfish124, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4832139. I remixed it, bringing the extruder gears closer inline with the hot end. I lowered it by about 6mm. Then I added a cable strain relief and mounting for a Bowden tube or grommet for a Palette. It requires two 3X12mm bolts and two 3X6mm bolts and a few cable ties. At the other end of the Bowden tube is a mount for the cable and filament runout sensor. It pivots. It requires three 5X8mm bolts and t-nuts and a few cable ties. Three mounts have been uploaded. I played with a few designs, so one may choose for themselves. The nuts I made because the Palette 2 comes with only two grommets and they are made specifically for Mosaic. Eventually, I want my Palette 2 to be able to move between various printers, so I designed this nuts idea. The Bowden tube connector will take some work to seat in the mount properly. The Nuts Mount uses two 4X8mm bolts and t-nuts. The extruder cables need to be lengthened. I had an old piece laying around, so I just soldered it onto the stock cable. The extra length needed appears to be about 65mm. I think it was the old stock extruder motor cable for my Ender 3. These were printed with Overture's matte black PLA. Six layers all around for strength and 15% infill. The nuts and stanchion are made in PETG, but for no real reason. The fabric sleeves instructions are here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3994402 The heat break that I used to make the hot end all-metal is this titanium version: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TCD4M1S The side mount for the CR-30 display is posted here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4882768 Forgive the lack of print quality on some of these. I was running experiments while making these parts. Please post your makes!
