Toys for boys- Ships/ modular bulk carrier, pocket size

Description

Toys for boys. Old boys use computers, small boys need other toys Cargo ships nowadays are almost box shaped. It should be easy to design it with use of basic shapes. This is my first attempt and maybe because of that it is pocket size. Midship and bow sections are 40x26mm, stern about 30x26. But 2 holds, bow & stern gives 150x26, amost like on coasters in meters. Resize according to Your needs. Hull- bottom & top parts are made from trapezoid. Straight, panamax-like bow also. Most difficul was stern part- it need few cuts and filling gaps one by one. Ship has one screw, right handed propeller with standard or backward rudder. Standard rudder operates in angle +-35 degs, backward in range +-65 degs, and gives effect similar to bow thruster- tested. In fore part of Engine Room double bottom is small rod to tie rubber band for propeller but in larger scale I planned to use small electric motor. For now You must put some weight (metal nuts) in that space (AP tank equivalent). Bow comes in 2 versions- bulbous and straight. Chain pipes outside should be trimmed according to Your vision- old designs were cut at hull, now often are extruded outside. Anchor is very simple, from rotated cube. Bollards (cross)- print several pieces and glue in vicinity of chocks. Ballast tanks can be filled through ballast vent pipes and emptied by syringe with flexible pipe connected to sounding pipes. Pay attention during ballast operations- excessive list can capsize the ship. Vent heads- maybe it's good idea to cut off few of them and mount with additional collar for easy ballast operations. Each hull section should be separated by bulkheads. Hold is box shaped with 6 pontoon hatch covers operated by small gantry crane on rails - simple, but not often used type, due to long time needed to open or close hatches. In this model gantry is operated by crank. There are many things needed to make model close to reality but outfitting is the most time and money consuming part of ship or house building, isn't it? So it will come as remixes. As mooring winches maybe crane winch/rope drum https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4867679 can be used - try it. What about documentation ?- lightweight report, inclining experiment, stability calculations, draught marks etc. It is duty of shipbuilder- remember that it must be approved by Class Society. For now - Enjoy! Edited:21.07.2021 added- see remixes. lifeboat & davit model + another propeller - operational rescue boat with craddle - for davit see remix - operational liferaft with craddle - see remix - operational stockless anchor model - for working wersion see remix anchor lifter combined with 2 winches and additional capstan-operational compass repeater + search light - operational superstructure - 5 decks with cabins +outfitting & furniture - operational it is made in version 4 of Template Shapes_Text https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4863092 template code will be included in next database release
