Ratchet and Pawl

Ratchet and Pawl

Description

Designed a simple 19-tooth ratchet and pawl mechanism, simulated the motion analysis applying only gravity to the pawl, then 3D printed the parts on my Prusa MK3S to check my design and prototype. I was inspired by Sam Schmitz's project, fivehundredseven.com, where he went through the exercise of designing and printing mechanical movements from the 1868 book "507 Mechanical Movements" by Henry T. Brown. Everyone needs practice to improve their skills, and a lot can be learned from replicating simple and complex mechanisms. I've been flipping through my own copy of 507 Mechanical Movements as well as browsing Cornell University's "The Kinematics Models for Design Digital Library (KMODDL)" for additional kinematic inspiration. ----------- You might need to sand the shafts depending on your printer precision.
