Stereoscope ring adapter to fit smaller lens (includes FreeCAD file)

Stereoscope ring adapter to fit smaller lens (includes FreeCAD file)

Description

Designed to fit a smaller 50mm diameter lens to a 76mm diameter stereoscope ring. A FreeCAD FCStd file is included in the .zip and was created with FreeCAD .20 beta (but should work in FreeCAD >= 0.19). The included STL's have 4mm holes (top and side), 50.25mm for the lens diameter and 76mm for the adaption diameter. It has an adaption height of 30mm (inside of ring) and a flange with the width of 4mm and 3mm height (bring the overall height to 33mm). A minimum wall thickness of 2mm for both inside (lens hole) and outside(ring hole). The chamfer height is adjustable or removable. I printed the included STL with 50% infill and not even a brim for support. Almost everything is within the "Spreadsheet". Read the spreadsheet named "readme_notes" within the file for more help. NOTE: if you want to adjust several values within the FreeCAD "Spreadsheet", temporarily set "cut side holes?" to 0 so computation is faster. Can be used with smaller/larger lenses/rings. The FreeCAD file offsets holes with the given offsets within the "Spreadsheet" (a slope of .25/5 by default), starting from the flange and working it's way up to the chamfer to compensate for 3D printer inaccuracies or in case the adapter will ever be used upside down. However, all holes can be toggled off within the spreadsheet. I used this to fit a imx385 sensor based camera from AliExpress to the cheap lens that came with it, which has a 50mm collar (see picture). It also comes with a "Better Than Nothing" adapter lid in case you want to invert/hang your camera from the stereoscope ring (however, I didn't use the lid myself).
