Hadrian's Wall, Turret, turf wall
Description
Hadrians wall, turf section turret, scale 1/200 When initially built the western portion of Hadrian's wall was built in turf rather than stone. The turrets, even on this section of the wall, were built in stone. This is similar to the eastern portion where the turrets were built first and the walls between built later, the turrets there had wing walls built with them to take the stone wall. In the west there are no wing walls so it looks like it was intended that there would be a turf wall initially, and possibly for some time, before replacement by a stone wall, this was eventually done. The turf wall was likely never as high as the stone wall was intended to be, turf walls just can't be built as high, so there must have been a stairway from the wall to the turret doors. I've made this substantial, mainly to support the open door while 3D printing. The turret may or may not have had a roof, so there are two models.
