Tap Station
Description
This tap station is for keeping your parts and tap perpendicular when threading holes. It is very easy to start a tap crooked and very hard to fix the damage once it's done, using this tool will reduce the likeliness of such errors. The collet does not have a hole in it but it is very easy to add the size you need. Load the collet into the design tool of your choice (tinkercad is my go-to), measure the shaft of your tap, generate a hole in the collet, then print. This will ensure that the collet is a tight fit to your tap to reduce play. Install your tap collet into the tap stand, put your part on the table, and use a tap wrench to spin your tap. The stand is adjustable from 150mm to nearly 300mm in height. All lock holes are for M4 bolts and nuts. Any time you print a collet I suggest adding a label to it so that you know what size tap it was for. Either print it on the part or write it on with permanent marker. As I make collets for myself I will add them to the collection on here. 7/21/21 - I added another tap collet style with a groove in the middle so that the lock screw can be used to reduce play as well as keep the collet from popping out. you also have the option of locking the collet entirely so that only the tap spins
