Door Holder (Ball and Socket)
Description
No latch. No slide. No hook. Just push to engage and pull to disengage! Door holder to keep your door open (or HODOR!) when the door holder is pushed in. If using PETG (Recommended) ========================= - Use the standard version STL (Door-Holder-Socket.STL). The standard version printed using PLA will likely snap. See below if using PLA. - Use high infill (80% or higher) since it will likely be exposed to abuse. - Use the typical settings to increase strength (higher temp, low/no fan, etc.) - You can probably print this in ASA or Nylon (not tested) - The ball part is the same for both PETG and PLA. UPDATED (10/3/2021) - Recommended infill to 80%. - Thicker flaps in the middle (~30% increase) for added strength. - Wider opening (~0.8mm) to lessen stress put on the flaps. If using PLA ============= - Use the file with "PLA" at the end (Door-Holder-Socket.STL). - The PLA version has deeper slots to give the flaps more flexibility. - It also has a slightly larger opening to put less stress but this also means a bit less grabbing force than the standard version. - Use high infill (80% or higher) since it will likely be exposed to abuse. - Use the typical settings to increase strength (higher temp, low/no fan, etc.) - Tested with Overture PLA black and it seems to work OK. - The ball part is the same for both PETG and PLA. Installation Instructions ================= - Follow the instructions described in one of the photos above (with red dots). - **DON'T** measure and install with the ball inside the socket. The socket has a lot of play so you will not get an accurate alignment by doing that. - Orient the slotted holes in the socket part in the direction you are likely to adjust before screwing it on (likely up and down). - I used the typical drywall screws.
