Mount for Power Bar Hidden Under Desk Grommet
Description
A mount to hide a power bar underneath a rectangular desk grommet. I needed to have power outlets easily accessible from a standing desk. Most desk top-mounted power outlets are fairly pricey and offer only a few outlets. I designed this under desk mount for a <b>CyberPower CSP604U Professional Surge Protector</b> which has 6 outlets and 2 USB charging ports. Once mounted, the power and USB outlets -- and even the power button -- from the power bar are easily accessible through a rectangular grommet of the desk. The power bar is completely hidden when the grommet cover is closed. I designed the mount so that the outlets have roughly 5cm of clearance so some devices may remain plugged-in while the grommet cover is closed -- with wires and cables being routed through the small opening of the grommet designed for this purpose. When installed properly with two short screws on the underside of the desk, the two ends of the mount hold the power bar fixed with no movement possible when plugging and unplugging devices. The power bar's power cable is routed through the designated opening. I had originally created 2 parts for this project -- one for each end of the power bar -- but decided that it was unnecessary. The final posted design just needs to be printed twice to have a complete mount. Printing: - Use PETG filament for strength -- PLA should work as well. - Print the part twice. - Print using the default orientation for strength. - Use support -- I used tree support. - Use 30% infill -- though would probably be fine. Hardware: - 2 short mounting screws.
