Glowing Potion Bottle Stopper
Description
# Summary: ### This is a potion bottle stopper designed to fit some "potion" bottles available on Amazon and elsewhere ### This image was taken in low lighting with some water and a small amount of milk. You will still get good results in daylight, just not quite so much glow. # Printing tips: ### Print with the 3 LED holes on the stopper on your print bed, and the flat part of the cap on your print bed. No supports, no raft! # Other supplies you will need: You will also need the following things to complete the project: - "Potion bottles": https://www.amazon.com/Forum-Novelties-Adults-Costume-Accessory/dp/B01LFGOAKS/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=potion+bottle&qid=1629664223&sr=8-3 - 17.5mm ID, 1mm thick O-rings. Available at https://www.mcmaster.com/1174N106/ - CR2032 batteries. You can find these yourself. - 3mm diameter LEDs. The color isn't important, but the diameter is! The bottle stopper holds up to 3, depending on how bright you want it to be. - (Optional) Teeny tiny drill bits to widen out the slots so your LED leads will fit. I used a 1mm drill bit in a pin vise. A 1/16" or 1/32" bit would also work. - (Optional) food-safe sparkles to make your "potion" shimmer. # Assembly: - Print out a stopper and a cover (these 2 files) - Put the o-ring onto the o-ring slot on the base of the stopper. - Check to see whether you can see light through the LED wire lead slots in the bottom of the base. If not, drill these holes out so your LEDs will fit. - Insert 1-3 LEDs into the base, to taste. Make sure the long leads (+) are all on the same side. - Insert a CR2032 battery, paying attention to the orientation +/-. If you get it wrong, just flip it around. You won't damage the LEDs. - If your LEDs aren't lighting up, poke them around a little until they do. Optionally, take the battery out and bend the leads a bit to ensure they contact the battery. - Put the threaded cover you printed on, and test-fit it onto the bottle. - When you're happy with everything, pull the LEDs out and put some hot glue or superglue onto their base to make them watertight. Now your potion won't get into your nice electrical work. # Pro tips for potions: - Glue a gaudy drawer handle on top for maximum magical effect. - Add a small amount of milk to whatever liquid you put in your potion bottle to make it diffuse the light better than a clear liquid. - Add food-safe glitter to get a swirly, glittery potion
