Ford Model T - patrol car style

Ford Model T - patrol car style

Description

Wanted to have a go at reverse engineering the Crewe Tractor back into a Model T. Have designed it with a body similar to Model T patrol/scout cars used during the First World War, though not based on any one particular design. There is the body in one piece, and in three separate pieces (main body, and 2 sponsons) as I found that it saved on time and materials (for supports) by having the sponsons printed separately and then glued on. The body was created by taking the original load deck drawing and altering it, to ensure it still fitted the basic chassis (which was already assembled). Require: 1 x body (cut), 2 x sponsons, 1 x RHS running board, 1 x LHS running board, 2 x front mudguard supports. The holes in the middle of the mudguard supports are designed to take a short length of wire for holding the headlights. The seat from the original Crewe Tractor design was used, though widened by 8mm in FlashPrint. All other parts were used from the Crewe Tractor as standard. Painted with Humbrol 86 Matt Olive enamel for the majority of the body work, and Humbrol 29 dark earth eanamel for the wooden planks and seat components. Hopefully this allows other to create interesting versions of the Model T for their own garden railways - could be used for cars in peacetime too. 31/10/21 Edit - another (one piece) body alternative added, a longer version with the side extensions lower, and with arch cut outs to clear the running boards at the rear. Haven't yet printed this one out, but is more of a truck version that the above scout car type. Hopefully this leads to an even longer version for building a Model T ambulance
