High precision adapter for Ender 3 Z-axis stop switch
Description
## What it is This is a replacement high precision mount for Ender 3 v2 original Z-axis stop switch. It improves precision (x5 times) and repeatability of Z-axis auto homing function. Thus, improving first layer print quality. ## Problem When I first assembled printer, levelled bed and started printing, I noticed that every time I print, "homing function" gets to slightly different Z-axis lever (approximately within 0.5 mm range). This was causing bad first layer adhesion and quality. Effectively I had to re-level bed every time before print. ## Solution I think problem is that switch itself doesn't have a precise "trigger point" but operates within certain range, let's say 0.1 mm. This range is quite small, but because of the leverage, it's amplified around x5, which will give resulting deviation of about 0.5 mm. These numbers I am using is just for illustration, I didn't do any measurement. What I decided to do to improve "trigger point" precision is to move contact point from the end of the lever to the point where switch itself is, which helps us get rid of "leverage amplification" and bring deviation back to 0.1 mm. This can be achieved by simply flipping micro-switch to the other, outer side of the printer. This simple change should increase Z-axis auto-homing precision x5! It reuses original switch and screws and doesn't require any extra hardware. ## Conclusion After I replaced original part with this printed adapter, the problem I was facing was completely gone! I didn't have to re-level bed ever since! Honestly, I don't understand, why someone would get into so much hustle and expense as to buy and install BL touch system, while bed levelling problem can be solved so easily (another thing I did - replaced stock bed springs for better quality ones). I am also including OpenSCAD file, so you can modify dimensions or design. Please let me know if this solution worked for you as well as it worked for me.
