Our printable 3D model of the SARS-CoV-2 virion is one of the most accurate available, displaying the surface of the virus in brilliant detail. The model includes 25 spike proteins with the 4 key conformation variants – closed, open, double-open, and post-fusion states. It also includes M protein and E protein features embedded in the surface. The sphere of the model is 15cm in diameter, with each Spike protein around 3cm long. A display stand is also included. The model is downloaded and printed as a kit, the virion envelope sphere is printed in two parts which must be glued together, and 25 spike proteins are also printed each as two parts which must be stuck together. The 3D printed model is based on up-to-date scientific information and a digital molecular model containing over 7 million atoms. The viral protein structures are sourced from the Protein Data Bank, the virion model was assembled by published researcher Samuel A. McKie.
