Combine Guitars Resincaster - Guitar Mould Positive

Combine Guitars Resincaster - Guitar Mould Positive

Description

This is the 3D model I created for my latest guitar build. This model is meant to be a Positive for crafting a custom silicone mould, which is then filled with epoxy resin to create the body. While the completed guitar is available on my web store (Combine Guitars), I wanted to make the model available to the 3D-Print community in case someone wanted to try making it themselves. It is split into 6 parts to fit a 20cmX20cm printer bed. Parts can be glued together with epoxy, and must then be sanded smooth. Sanding the whole body does take time, but any layer lines left in-tact will transfer to the silicone mould, meaning you would have to sand the epoxy body anyways. Some edges (mostly back edges) of the resin body will need to be beveled with a file after fully curing. You will have to route out the control/hardware cavities as you would normally. For the build shown in the pictures, I simply used a Strat routing template found on Thingiverse. The body size is large enough to fit any guitar scale length up to 34", meaning it even works for bass guitars.
