Improved Adjustable Filament Spool Roller for Ender 3 All versions
Description
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3789524 JDs_Work designed this filament spool holder because they didn't like the way the original spool holder does not hold the spool centred on the axis of rotation (and neither did I). The holder is now compatible with 33mm to 90mm inside diameter filament spools allowing for a greater range of filament brands to be used. This self centring spool holder does not require any additional parts, components, or hardware other than the original bracketry which comes with the Creality Ender 3 range of 3D Printers and any other accessories you choose to use with it (i.e. a side mount bracket). It may be suitable for other printers depending on your existing bracketry, if you have a bracket which is flat with a ~30mm opening for the spool holder then this should fit. All versions of the Ender 3 are supported by this Spool Holder including the Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro and Ender 3 V2. This may also fit other printers in the Ender range i.e. the Ender 5, Ender 5 Pro etc. I have modified the nuts from JDs_Work's original files to increase the tolerance in the threads by 3% without changing the thread pitch, allowing the spool holder to be printed with a 0.4mm Nozzle with 0.2mm Layer Height, no supports on most of the parts (apart from the "Main Support" which requires supports on build plate only) and with minimal cleaning/post-printing steps. I used a 0.12mm layer height for improved performance but it prints fine and works just as well with 0.2mm. In this version, I have also increased the diameter of the main conical, self centring rollers to allow for a greater range of brands to be used i.e. SUNLU. I also added a textured grip to the back of each roller to allow for easier tightening and release of the spools. Despite the extra tolerance in the threads, compared to the original models, I would still advise that your printer is well calibrated and your slicer configuration is on point as the main feature of this design is threaded components which need to interface well.
