AA Battery Modules OpenSCAD

AA Battery Modules OpenSCAD

Description

Here are a couple of AA battery holders in OpenSCAD format that can be called as modules and integrated into 3D printing projects. Both versions are designed to fit battery plates you can find online – so you can insert these pieces and use the exposed electrical connections. Here are the two different types of end pieces that these are designed for: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HRRRW58/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GN3PN46/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It helps to use a pliers to flatten the small protrusions on the parts before inserting them in the print. I find that the batteries are held fast even when the unit stands upside down. The metal tabs on the end pieces makes a good place to solder wires to. The larger battery box has support for adding a switch (I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PYW94WN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but no doubt others will work just fine). Some feed throughs for wires to pass through and also a threaded hole to attach supports or other things (print the example of support.scad ) to get an idea of how to use this. Note that this requires the library threads_2.5.scad that I found in: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:965737 The battery boxes can be printed without supports. I find it useful to print the threaded part placing a raft under the device to keep both ends clean so they will screw into the battery compartment.
