Buster Mech

Buster Mech

Description

After a year and a half of tinkering, I am finally confident enough to post my final product. I created the Buster Mech model as both a passion project of my love of giant robots and as an exercise through which I learned more about 3d modeling and 3d printing. Also, due to the pandemic, I had a lot of time on my hands. The Buster Mech's design was highly influenced by Japanese super robots of the 80's and 90's. I wanted the mech to have a sense of weight so I bulked up the limbs and puffed up the details in the chest. I even gave it a collar, can't remember why but it just seems to work. I gave its "face" a blank visor to give it a sense of neutrality, a piece of machinery to be used for any purpose whether it be construction or farming or warfare. The Buster Mech was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing. Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strength, print these so that the long side of the pin is parallel to the build plate). 3 millimeter ports on the arms and back allow for cross compatibility with most other model kit accessories. I hope you enjoy. Please send feedback as I may create improved versions of the figure in the future. Depending on your printer and plastic, some light sanding and/or tightening of parts may be required. Tightening may be done via thin layers of super glue or multi-surface floor polish.
