HX Extruder for EVA system, Ratrig V-core 3
Description
*HX EXTRUDER for EVA Carriage and Ratrig Vcore 3* This is a remix of MirageC's HextrudORT lightweight extruder for the EVA system X Carriage, which is used on various Ratrig printer designs. I had a hard time printing the original HextrudORT files cleanly due to the more complex shapes that required a lot of supports. So I changed up the parts so that they print easier with less supports, and tweaked a few things, like the overall shape, and latch orientation. The backplate that supports the extruder is remixed to be compatible with the EVA2 carriage design. This extruder pushes the filament path outward by nearly 1mm (0.9mm to be exact) when compared with stock EVA design. I modified the EVA front plate and made the mounting point 0.9mm longer to compensate. you must use the modified EVA front faceplate for proper filament alignment from the extruder to the hotend. This version was designed around the V6 and Dragon hotends for the EVA, and my front face plate was modified from the EVA part. If you are using another hotend, you will want to add 0.9mm to the hotend mount, or shim out your hotend by the same amount. watch the video here for more information: https://youtu.be/vEcrInR_o0Q OTHER PARTS: You will need a Bondtech BMG style extruder to harvest parts from. Genuine BMG, Trianglelab clone, and Polisi3D clones are known to work. DotBit clones do NOT work, as they have a thicker driver gear (4mm vs 3mm). You will need a round Nema-14 stepper motor with an integrated 10-tooth spur gear for this extruder. LDO has a couple of popular motors that will work (same ones as used on the Orbiter and Sherpa Mini extruders). A PC4-M6 Pneumatic fitting will thread into the top hole that will hold a piece of bowden tube to help guide your filament. The extruder is held together with M3 socket head bolts, and has two captured nuts (one in the backplate, and one in the extruder body). Be sure to use these sizes so the screw ends don't interfere with the bmg drive gear: (2) M3 x 16mm (bottom cover, and latch hinge) (1) M3 x 20mm (for the latch gear) (1) M3 x 25mm (top cover through to backplate nut) (2) M3 hex nuts (1) M3 square nut for the thumb screw is also needed. small section of PTFE tubing from bottom of extruder to your hotend SETUP For E-Steps in Marlin, start at 680 and adjust from there. For Klipper, start with a rotation distance of 4.54 and adjust from there. Updates 9/20/21 - added STEP file 10/7/21 - added modified EVA fan shroud
