Ikea Lack Enclosure for PRUSA

Ikea Lack Enclosure for PRUSA

Description

Hi all, I decided to built the Lack Enclosure for the PRUSA MK3S+ described by: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2864118, https://blog.prusaprinters.org/cheap-simple-3d-printer-enclosure_7785/ In general they did some good work, however in my experience, several things could have been better: - First of all, I splitted the corner parts in separate files, to make it actually printable. Note the small cylinder in the corner parts (Enc_cor_1Swing and Enc_cor-2Swing) were the door swings are mounted on are quite vulnerable. Therefore I recommend printing these parts separate with an infill of 40-50 percent. All other parts can be printed with ~20 percent infill. - Secondly, note that I use the same corner parts of the bottom of the table, for the top of the table. This requires less bolting work and worked fine, but if you prefer you can still use the top corner parts from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2864118. - Third, I changed the Plexiglass dimensions, since I found that the width dimensions in the original part are too small, leaving small gaps. I used the following plexiglass dimensions: 3pcs: 445 x 440 mm, thickness 3mm 2pcs: 222.5 x 440 mm, thickness 3mm (found some budget Plexiglass cutter online, in total paid approx 40 euro's) Also, I cut the corners of the Plexiglass (using a jig saw) to make the sheets fit nicer in the brackets. See the dimensions of the cut in the 'How I Designed This' section. Note that I only drew 1 corner, but applied to cuts to every corner. For the door, you will have to increase the 20 mm a bit to match the door bracket length. - Furthermore, the PSU holder does not fit the MK3S+ PSU. With some manual labour and tie wraps I still managed to mount it below the table. Not that I did not manage to update this design yet and this is on the to do list. Will keep you posted when that design is updated. - Finally, I experienced problems with the filament spool on 4 wheels that comes with the original enclosure. The filament roll kept falling after a couple of hours of printing. Therefore, I created my own, see: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4971276 Other points of attention: - For the 60 deg cable corner, I use ABS material, for all other parts PLA is perfect. - I use the PSU replacement stiffening brace, this will help to stiffen your Prusa MK3S+ in Y-direction after removing the PSU. All parts are attached to this project. If you want to help you design or print your own cool project, check out our website: https://www.3beeprinting.com/
