86mm Chilli Fermenter Airlock / Moat / Lid complete with plunger

Description

This is a 3D printed lid to a mason jar that creates an airlock using a moat. I use it for fermenting chilli's to make hot sauce, but you could use it to ferment many vegetables that will fit. This method is good as it gives relatively good access to the internals for inspection and cleaning, and also has a plunger grill that pushes all the material below the surface so as to prevent mould. You will need to fill the moat with water or brine to make the seal, and the lid will rise up during fermentation, but will settle down over time once completed due to minor leaks (good indicator). Should take care when removing the lid once sunk all the way down so that it doesn't draw too much sealing liquid back into the jar (you'll see). A future revision should have a screw or something on top to release the negative pressure and also give you something to grab onto to remove it. I also use a silicone gasket at the base of the threads (to mate with the lip of the opening to ensure a good seal. I use PETG as I'm told it's food safe, but won't make any claim that it is myself, for you to decide.
